The Birthday Post

Last Feb, my mother's already hyped up about my 18th birthday and all, asking me what I wanted to do and that if I wanted to have a party, we should reserve as early as then. But I was all, "wag na, sayang lang sa pera. Tsaka tinatamad ako." Am I the laziest person you know on earth yet?

It's almost been a week since I just turned 18 and this has been so much for a birthday.

I've never celebrated any of my birthdays with my friends because, basically, it's summer and I have no time to invite all of them in our teeny house. Anyway, I took time to invite them this time to go out and eat and watch a movie. My treat!

First was last Tuesday with my blockmates but too bad not all of them were there. Some were on a vacation and some were motorcade-ing with their parents. I spent time with those who had their Computing removals instead and a past blockmate. I asked them where to eat and Chary said to just have Taco Bell (so much for dinner before a movie). Anyway, after, I was surprised by them because they've got this cake from Goldilocks which looked like a Strawberry Shortcake to me plus they patiently played the stuffed toy game in Timezone 'til they've got one. Yes, 'twas more than sweet :">

The sad part was, I lost my phone.

ANYWAY, April 8th, just a day before my actual birthday, I treated my high school friends to dinner at Teriyaki Boy, Tomas Morato. My high school friends were the first people I ever thought of if I ever had a really huge debut party. I mean, I miss them a lot. More than you'll ever know. College was fine, okay. I still get to laugh and stuff but high school was one of the best moments that ever happened in my life plus I never had to worry how I should act around them 'cause in college, there are boys, okay? I came from an all-girls private school so get me.

On that day, I blew another cake and that made me feel so damn old. 18 + 18 = 36. I'm not even done with the things I wanted to do in life.

On the day itself [of my birthday], I celebrated it with my family, nonetheless. I acted like a kid once more: played agawan-base, Pepsi 7Up and volleyball under the moonlight.

I pigged out today and it was worth 4 days without lunch. This time, I'm serious. During the start of the day, I promised I'll never it anything full today like full lunch, dinner or breakfast and it was mainly because of three reasons: 1) I had to save more money, 2) I'm so fat (don't even dare to say that I'm thin 'cause you haven't seen my tummy yet and I don't have any plans to show them to you hahaha. Anyway...) and 3) it's Lenten Season already for God's sake. I need to quit being gluttonous.

But the plan was a failure, as always. Who couldn't resist food anyway? And sweets when they're delicious-looking as these...

Moving on, due to insistent demand of projects, paperworks and whatever thingamajig going on in school, I now lack sleep and it's also the cause of me and my blockmates pigging out :( There's the English argumentative paper due, Calculus finals on the 13th and the last long exam on the 11th, programming project and the Filipino thesis paper.

Yes, we have a thesis paper as early as now. What are we anyway, graduating students? God, please help these professors... and us.

Stress + Relievement = February

The February 2010 ender post.

I had so much to say this February, time flies by so quickly indeed. One thing we knew, we were approaching the second month of the year and the next, it's going to be already long gone.

We just had 2 long cry-worthy exams on the IT Week itself which was made for IT students to relax but for freshmen, "so long, IT week!" Thanks to the people who organized the FunFest, though. We had fun!

Alright, so I'm not going to be emo and stuff like that. Instead, there's a review of what made February worthwhile.

Pre-Valentine's Date

...with blockmates. Almost everyone, at that time, was worrying of who'll be their dates on February 14 itself. I never knew what it feels like with a date of my 17 years of existence. I've always thought, "ay, puro flowers lang naman tapos date then okay na yun." Never did it occur to me that these so-called "dates" would be that fun especially with these people.

So, first off, everyone had a "date" and mine was Paolo. The boys have planned a dating shenanigan and they got the opportunity to choose who their dates will be. As for the girls, no one had idea of who's going out with who. On the day itself, February 12, everyone got hyped up especially for the girls (haha). Ok, I really had no idea who picked me up and was like "bahala na" and decided to not care but as the day ended, I still had no idea. So blaaaaaah. I got picked by the "wild card." Anyway, we got to Eastwood and watched Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman :">)

Since no one still posted pictures, I only have this one from Chris' camera. Sadly, Tiara wasn't in the picture.

VALENTINE'S DAY

So how did you guys spend it? :D Well, I had dates on that day: my family. We attended mass at Tiendesitas and ate lunch at Teriyaki Boy. We didn't do that much but the fact that we were together on that day was the thing that made it special.

LAGUNA RETREAT (19-21)

This was so much for a stress reliever since we had a Calculus and Computing (Java Programming) long tests the same week as that but fortunately, we still had time to rest... and do some sports!

The retreat we attended wasn't so much of a high school one. I mean, no art papers, talent shows, icebreakers and craft making but it was more of meditations, benedictions and some holy stuff. It was still fun, though. The IT girls who joined were so active and funny. There was also this time when we got to introduce ourselves, we had to say our name, year level, talents, aspirations in life (which I had nothing to say, yet) so I just said,

"Magandang umaga. My name is Frances Lim, Freshman (emphasis on the fresh haha).

My talents are (to which the others reacted to and had nothing to say)... kahit ano

wag lang painting and my aspiration in life is... to promote world peace."

It got even funnier when Trixie stood up (we were sharing a chair). The chair suddenly toppled over and I kind of fell. Since I'm that much of an aggressive person, I was supposed to spank or something her and then they said, "world peace pala ah!"

The best part, though, was the time we had for swimming!

PS: You guys might think there's no such word as "relievement" but I searched for it already on the internet so yeah.

Defy gravity.

Finally, I'm over and done with that Calculus exam and have decided I should post something with worth here in my Blogger.


Too many things have been messing up my mind lately. On top of those is the Chorale. I even wonder why I bother keeping up with having an organization for my freshman year or better yet the whole of college. I, honestly, cannot keep up with anything this org's got to do. Chorale's a lot of fun, yes, but maybe I don't know how to take the pressure I'm feeling that well especially that it's mixed up with the hard subjects I have to take in my course... Calculus, Java (which is way, way more advanced than those people I know who are taking the same course as I do).


Anyway, though, another side of me keeps on telling me that I can do it. That I don't wanna be a quitter and that I want to find the "fun" there is in everything I do. May it be any org or any class.

PS: Sorry, I had to stop my Project 365 due to the following reasons: pressure, laziness and lack of time.

What you call "anything under the sun"

Trixie and Enchees: two of the greatest people I've ever met at UA&P.

Those 4 were taken individually using my laptop's webcam at McDo Pearl Drive.

During stress and quiz-free days, I and my blockmates (with Renzo harhar) take time to dine out around Pearl Drive where great restaurants were put.

Anyway, this day is an exception. We're (not all of us, though) stressing over our programming homework that was due today at 12 noon. Since we didn't do it during the vacation, we got to exercise a skill we're so good at: cramming. I wonder why we love to stress out ourselves when we have the whole time to do it.

On the other note, let me talk about the greatest block ever. (That's the only block I'll ever have.) Let me have something to summarize what has happened over the eight-month range we've been together.
